Eroica CA 2017 and Tom Richey's accident

Eroica CA 2017 and Tom Richey accident
I rode with Ted Tuesday up Mt diablo and he mentioned when he rode Eroica CA 2017 Tom Richey rode passed him down the gravel road to the coast going rather fast one foot down of the ground for better control. Than after passing Ted a ways he hit a truck going up went unto the hood rolled off flipped into the grass. face was bloody. A waiting ambulance was called. Took Tom to hospital
so anyone know how he is doing and better details
Thanks
Charles

Wow. I heard that there was a crash on the down hill, but I didn't know it was TR. Hope he's doing okay, and that it doesnt keep him away from the event in the future.

A friend of mine was riding alongside him before TR dropped him on the preceding climb-- he says he was hurt but basically OK, no serious injury.

Crud. Sorry to hear that. Someone was hit by a car the first year of this ride. Too many locals driving crazy.

This was what was reported by one of the organizers,

"Before you make an announcement about the incident you should know what happened. Tom broke the tip of his Tibia. He refused treatment by the EMT on standby at the scene and was driven to his wife's car by a fire department personnel in his truck. He was later treated at the hospital and last I heard he is doing fine. Tom hit my friend's brother's truck on the side as he was coming down too fast from the hill top on the dirt and could not control himself. It was not the driver's fault."

Ripping down the descents at Eroica '17

Ritchey blew past me at amazing speed on the descent after the Cyprus Canyon climb. I thought to myself, "How can he go that fast around these corners and not worry about what's coming up the road?" Hate for anyone to get hurt, but he was really pushing it in an event that isn't a race. Kinda' silly IMO.
