What bothered me was that the US team game eventhought has more touches than before, at some point that kind'a screw them up because mexico in attack has a lot more touch than the US team and at that point of the game you have to just play 2 or 3 passes in offensive and then come back because one wrong pass and mexico could have made the 2-1... good did not happen.

One good thing is that the players sitting on yellow cards didn't pick up a second. Cameron will be vital for the Costa Rica game and fortunately didn't receive any for the slew of fouls committed. Bradley was lucky that he wasn't shown a caution for the tactical foul in the second half.

Perhaps this Acosta-Bradley pairing could finally settle things down a bit and allow the latter to improve. Only question is who would be playing when one plays a 5-person midfield. The people i'd want to be on field at all time would be Acosta, Yedlin, Cameron, Nagbe, and, of course, Pulisic. Bradley seems to be on his way up, and Johnson appears to be trending the other way (though understandable, due to injury). As talented as Gonzalez and Brooks are, they appear not to be as focused as the less talented Tim Ream, and it could be argued that the latter's discipline is more important than the offensive threat of former two in certain situations

----------Howard/Horvath--------------
---Cameron---Gonzalez---Brooks---
Yedlin---Acosta---Bradley---Johnson
-------Nagbe------------Pulisic
-----------Altidore/Wood--------------

Ha, a poor man's (nah, more like indigent's) version of the Chelsea/Juventus 3-4-2-1. Or one could pull Gonzalez and switch to a 4-2-3-1, but would we want Dempsey in there? Is he disciplined enough to play CAM or would he just pout when asked to play defense?

Would love to see some new faces playing during the Gold Cup. Starting Saief would be nice, as would the evaluation of Miazga, Hedges, and Garza

Bump

Important match against Costa Rica tonight, who have speedy wingers that can terrorize slow/unaware fullbacks. Yet Bruce has decided not to call up the best RB available...

Might be a long night...

Oh boy...horrendous US defending. What is Ream, especially, doing out there?

And the attempt to limit ticket sales to CR fans doesn't seem to have worked too well.

To be fair the score should be 1-1, with that clear penalty on Altidore.

We get concaca-effed...

Totally hare-brained not to have Seattle or Denver host this one. I was actually okay with Ream as he played well in Azteca, but damn, getting beat by a dude who's struggling for minutes and goals.

Time for a drink...

I'm sensing a recurring theme on your part every time the US plays recently....

Unfortunately. That's they induce exasperation makes the good moments more meaningful. Kinda like being a Mets fan

Why so dramatic? It's just a game after all. Just relax, man, it works wonders for me, duh-duhduh-duh....

Altidore, ***? Now out for Honduras. And he just blew another equalizer chance. These guys need to wake up.

Oh jeez, 2-0, US defense just absolutely idiotic and shredded again. Absolutely embarrassing.

Of course I want Italy, but I think the chances are slim tomorrow.

Did I hear correctly that this was the first WC qualifying match win on US soil for Costa Rica since 1985??? Wow....

You heard correctly.

The thing I didn't realize while watching top teams of UCL, EPL, and Bundesliga is just how few unforced errors they commit. Totally different here.

OTOH, the attack was so disjointed that Navas wasn't even bothered for the most part

So true re: unforced errors. Tonight was a US comedy of them.

The defense was atrocious, but you are correct that the attack really had no cohesion either. I thought the only one who played with some fire and lucidity up front was Wood.

Yea of little faith.
Tonite you saw what a difference a keeper can make and Buffon is better.
Chiellini being out with a calf injury is troublesome but I am hoping the Bernabeu crowd will leave with long faces.
Forza Italia!!!
