Friends memorial Service Saturday
Friends memorial Service Fred Garrity Jr. was Saturday May 27 2017
Fred Garrity Jr. and I graduated from LIT (Now LTU) in AE Bachelor of Science 1958 Fred always wanted to bicycle Europe and when he graduated with me he wanted to spend his parents $1000 graduate gift on just that. I would have gone along. They couldn't gasp the concept of an architect bicycling around Europe taking in all the architectural slights So they only allowed him to buy a MG used instead So I rode my bicycle from Walnut Creek, CA to Peace Lutheran church in Danville CA In my Jelly Belly Jersey and of course riding the Battaglin 1988 all chorus components in memory of Fred's desire to do that ride but never managed to do Fred was an architect that didn't follow the normal path in that field which was work at an Architects office your whole career Or start your own practice But he was into architecture more than any other Architect I knew Great service and the minister knew Fred and that love for Architecture and life and mentioned it his talk on him great ride and food and church Charles Nighbor Architect PS Not sure all the proper dressed older woman were impressed with bike kit I wore My club on the same day rode to a members memorial service on flanks of Mt. tam Last edited by cnighbor1; 05-29-2017 at 04:36 PM. |

What he said. Just got an email from a old friend whose body is failing him--in his case the best way I can honor him is to keep reading books, since he was one of those guys who has been reading a book (or more) a day for his whole life...
