Campag Centaur Left Shifter

Hello All.

The thumb paddle shifter broke on my left front der 10 speed shifter this morning during my ride. :-(

It is the older 2005/6 Centaur model with the CF levers up front.

I had read that the later 2010 (and onwards) variants of this shifter is not as precise and is too light feeling during the shift, so i am not wanting to replace with this newer 2010 model.

http://weightweenies.starbike.com/fo...ic.php?t=68391

I have checked on eBay of the older model. Not much out there to replace this model shifter.

Anyone of you know where i can obtain this shifter from of the same vintage?

Repair possibility?

Vecchio's has the thumb button(I have RH ones only)...any thumb button from any ERGO, 1999 thru 2006 is the same(and Record/Chorus thru 2008). Easy to fix, repair, no need to replace the lever.

2009 Centaur(first year of 'gumby shaped levers) were pretty soft, running change in 2009/10 made them clickier. 2011 they became 'Powershift', soft again.

If no soap with Vecchios I can get the thumb button and repair your lever-$25 labor, thumb button is about $20.

Hard to tell from picture. Part number is EC-RE-205....lots on eBay, 'Campagnolo ERGO LH thumb button'....

Pretty sure that's the one...

how do we know it is not for the later model centaur shifter - post 2008?

is there anything else that i should replace while i am inside the shifter replacing this part?

ALSO,

i read this link below and learn there is an upgrade kit for these shifters - EC-CE110 kit

http://weightweenies.starbike.com/fo...68391&start=15

Do you know what this kit does and could it be useful for my shifter set?

2009+ thumb buttons flat where they enter the shift guts without a hole in it. 2006 and older concave section with hole in it for thumbutton return spring.

Escape type(centaur nd Veloce-2007/8) permanently attached to ergo body.

It looks like proper one, just need to confirm its LH one, not right and not from 1998 and older(hole in different place)...

LH shifter, no..probably not even shift springs since the LH shifter is shifter far less than right.

Thanks OP.

Attached photos of the broken LH thumb tab from my bike.

Are you able to confirm if this tab is from a Centaur shifter between 1998 - 2008?

more photos showing the busted left shifter.

it has 'QS Centaur on the front brake lever' - what is the year of this manufacture? I think it is 2007/2008?

I think QS stands for 'Quick Shift'...

I obtained the last photo from the internet - showing thumb tabs in tact.

interesting thread on this

http://www.cyclingforums.com/threads...ifters.416449/

Note sure if this is even repairable?

That's from a 2007/8 Centaur 'Escape' and unfortunately, not fixable/repairable..new shifter.

Thanks OP.

That's a bummer!

Will this shifter below be a suitable replacement?

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/282076918...&sojTags=bu=bu

Do you know what year this shifter is?

Would 2008 Campag Record 10 speed QS ULTRA SHIFTERS be OK as a replacement?

It is the last shape, Gumby type..not the same shape as the one you have. BUT it's Ultrashift, so from 2009/10 and far better innards from the 2011 Centaur or 2007/8 Centaur.

I'd also recommend finding a Record LH shift assembly(I can get you one as well-about $90)..then use the brake blade from your busted LH lever and handlebar clamp..you would need a hood as well.

Your thoughts on this 2008 record shifter set?

Worth buying?

I do not understand your sentence : "... so from 2009/10 and far better innards from the 2011 Centaur or 2007/8 Centaur....".???

Screaming good deal...if it stays that low. I can overhaul/fix RH lever for about $40-$50...these will last like forever with a little maintenance, very fixable/repairable. If ya get them, you can have the guy send them to me and I can go thru them and make like new..
