What race is this? Doesn't sound like it's RAAM you're talking about here. Are there no crews on this race?

Details, please.

Yeah, I regret not driving to Bardstown and sitting out on the street to cheer on a few leaders.

It is not RAAM. It's the Trans Am Bicycle Race, an unsupported cross-country race following the Trans-America Trail.

This is the third iteration. It's a hell-ride. Check out the documentary about it, Inspired to Ride. It's by the same folks who filmed Ride the Divide.

This is fully unsupported racing. From Oregon to Virginia.

There was a cool movie made about the 2014 edition called "Inspired to Ride" that gives a real good picture of what they are up to...

The guy who won the 2014 Trans Am is on pace to win the Tour Divide.

http://trackleaders.com/tourdivide16

This is a unsupported mountain bike race from Banff, Canada to the Mexican on the Great Divide Trail...

I can't believe she used electronic shifting for this race.... Amazing race . Wonder what happened to her spot tracker when she went down for a couple days.

In my experience, that happens with Spot, especially the little units we're given from Trackleaders for races.

My experiences with Di2 for endurance racing lead me to believe she had a firmware problem similar to what was happening with the DFly which was draining the battery doing unnecessary searches. Nicholas did say that she shifts a lot, though, so who knows? The battery charges rapidly- you can do it from the dyno hub or a storage battery. The majority of road endurance racers are probably on Di2 now - this shouldn't be an issue. From her article, it looks like she just got the UI2 set up and hadn't messed with it much.

235 miles a day average, for 18 days.

Ouch.
