I've never used that particular stand, but I wouldn't recommend that type of clamp for modern bikes, especially carbon or light alloy parts. I think a much better option is something like a Park PRS-20. That stand I would highly recommend.

Ouch! Not for no $200, that's for sure!

Try this recipe: a $21 bench clamp, a 4' piece of gas pipe threaded at one end (this might cost you as much as the clamp), a threaded flange for the bottom, a scrap of plywood and a few machine screws and nuts.

My old stand finally gave up a few years ago and I made one like the above. It does everything a Park floor stand does, if a little more slowly.

However I'll admit I'm tempted by the under-the-BB style. You guys who use them -- do you put them on a table to get the bike up to a good height?

(Incidentally I noticed much lower prices on those PRO stands on eBay.)

I've had the Feedback Sports stand for 7-8 years. Very stable, folds up quickly and compact. Easy to use.

Never had an issue holding any bike, including carbon.

This stand and the one you're looking at clamp at the seatpost. Bikes with aero posts can be a little tricky but usually are no problem.

The method of clamping used is the same as the commercial Parks used in the vast majority of bike shops in the U.S.

Two of my bikes have carbon seatposts, non-issue.

Any quality bike stand allows one to work on their bike much easier which encourages better maintenance

agreed. the Park ones are nice too. if you barely ever want to move the stand, the steel/Park ones are nice because they're less-wobbly. but if you wanna move it often-ish, go for the aluminum/Feedback ones.

also, I'd hold out for a coupon code. CC (or backcountry) frequently does 20% off any non-sale accessories (they frequently run this during the tour, in fact). Art's also has 15% off pretty much always.

those clamps are fine on seatposts and I prefer them to work on whole bikes or make adjustments.

and yes, you can find feedback stands at cc and rei, both of which have 20% coupons from time to time.

Anyone using this PRO repair stand

I bought the Elite Pro Repair stand from Nashbar. It's the stand that Tinkoff and Ag2r use. Also, every other week, Nashbar has a 20% off coupon. I even got the free shipping. The stand cost me $149, less 20%.

You will keep a workstand for many years. Get the Feedback Sports stand. Get the best one you can afford.

If anyone is worried about clamping a carbon frame, get a clamp at hirobel.com

I had a 10 year old feedback that broke and I bought a Park to replace it. Sorry I did. Any 2 leg design is great unless the floor where u work on bikes is level. Stability isnt there. The park will be replaced down the road.....................
