RIP - Ralph Stanley

Died yesterday at age 89. He was a 'bluegrass guy', but I particularly appreciate him for keeping his traditional Southern Appalachian roots alive and vibrant in his music. RIP Ralph.

Agree, a sad loss. He was a talented pioneer and made many contributions to the music venue, bluegrass in particular. Fortunately, he did live a relatively long life.

NPR replayed an interview with him this morning. Definitely worth a listen.

That is sad news. Luckily I got to see him a couple of years ago at Rockygrass. He didn't play the banjo any longer but he had a great voice!
