Hope to see you and the 44 at this year' Rose Mountain Rumble since you are in the neighborhood. Always a pleasure to ride in the Monadnock region.

Yes I will be there this year.

here again for a bit in Martha's Vineyard. The bikeways are great, but the backroads are the hidden gem. Some roads go somewhere, and some don't. But these sand roads generally go deep into the scrub brush in various states of maintenance. I crossed paths with horses just a moment before this shot. It's good exploring.

Here we have my Zanc Al CX with 700x44 Compass Snoqualmies and a middling 1x. Just about perfect for this.

Cool shot. Good to hear about the backroads as well.

Please feel free to pass on any Vinyard tips here or via PM to me as I would be interested in anything you have to share.

Family has booked a house for a week on the Vinyard next month and am hoping to do some riding that week before heading up to NH for the Rose Mountain Rumble.

50x34 and I just switched (2 weeks ago) from 11x32 to 11x36. I am using a mid length ultegra 6800 rd and the cassette is a sram 1170 (i think that's the number).

Yes definitely. I'm by no means an expert on the island, but I have my favorite routes and have probably inspected more dead-end lanes than others. By far the biggest challenge in riding off the beaten path in MV is that roads you can map out online may not be passable on the ground because they are either reclaimed by nature or are gated/no-trespassing. Though you can always bail to a bike path should you tire of backroads. There is actually some great mtb'ing here too.

The best resources are the various map views from ridewithgps.com and the MV Land Bank...http://www.mvlandbank.com/newfullmap2016.shtml
What part of the island are you staying at? PM me.
