Serotta F3 6.5 vs 10.5

I'm 170, and I'd be using it for general riding, not racing - is the 6.5 still ok, or should I look for a 10.5?

At the same weight, 6.5 Has been perfectly fine for me. I don't feel that it's noodly. It's very smooth. They also made an 8.5 but I've never tried either the 8.5 or 10.5. You can search for a post by Mike Lopez that has the deflection readings and also compares them to Enve's and Reynolds Ouzo forks.

The 10.5 tubing and forks were meant for someone heavier than you, or someone who wanted a really stiff frame/fork. At your weight, you're at the cusp of where I believe Serotta would have started specing 8.5 tubing/fork. I nornally weigh a little more than you (and, sadly, at the moment a lot more than you) and still prefer the ride quality of the 6.5 fork over the 8.5 fork. It's really a question of personal preference. Foo_fighter's suggestion is a good one--do a search for Mike Lopez's comments. They provide a wealth of information.

What did you pick up for that F3 to go on?

Just a small (well, 62cm) investment in precious metals

It was either that or let the cash earn 0.005% in my checking account, so what the he||...plus, I have it on good advice that the Serotta Index is due for a bounce at some point...

Nope - naked other than some pasties...

Wouldn't mind having that one too though!

I'm 190 and ride a 6.3 that came with my 60ish cm Concours and it rides great. I also have an 8.5 on my Fierte IT and I am very convinced that i could not tell a difference if blindfolded. At 170 I think you will be fine.
