Chad Young succumbs to injuries

Didn't see this here yet so thought I'd post it. Not a good week for pro road cyclists. Sad news.

I've known him since he was a Junior. My favorite Chad Young moment: I finish my M50+ race and line up with the P/1/2. Chad looks over at me and says "what are you doing here, old man?". RIP to an outstanding cyclist and an even better young man.

Skyrider wrenches for his former CCB team and knew him.

So sad.

This descent at the Tour of the Gila is notorious.

Oh good lord, his father was my best friend growing up in the 70's - I got him into riding. His father and I did a bike tour in Nova Scotia in 1975 - he loved it so much he went to school there and met his bride. We saw Chad race a few times, last in Fitchburg.

My body is shaking and in tears.

From what I know, he didn't crash on that particular descent. He was OTF in a break and got spit out. He fell through the field and went OTB. He joined up with two other riders and was chasing back. Both riders crashed in front of him and he went down hard.

I don't have a son, but after reading this, it makes me realize that if I did, I'd want him to be like this kid. Perhaps for those who did know him, they will want to read this. https://cyclingtips.com/2017/04/a-tr...ng-chad-young/

Just sounds like a super kid. My heart goes out to his family.

I was going by what was reported through the CCB coconut telegraph as to where and how.

Shovelhd may have better info through his officials connections.

Either way this truly is a big loss for the US cycling community and New England in particular.

He was an engineering student at the Colorado School of Mines, following in his fathers footsteps
