OT: Ferrari in Indycar?
I'm guessing this may be typical political maneuvering by the management.
https://racer.com/2020/05/15/ferrari...otto-confirms/ They seemed serious 35 years ago when my team took a March to Italy to be tested and examined. That exercise resulted in the Ferrari 637 which was never raced - which is a shame and a loss to everyone who is a fan of the brand and the series. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrari_637 Indycar is looking for another engine supplier so I guess Ferrari could be a fit. But I can't imagine that Ferrari has a huge excess of employees involved with the engines, and employee salaries seem to be the cost area they are looking to shift. |

The other Indycar rumor is that Mercedes is going to build engines for the McClaren team in 2021.
That almost makes sense as they will be their supplier in F1. BK

Ferrari to IndyCar? Remember when Porsche tried as an engine supplier and failed miserably.

IndyCar needs something. Tony George ruined the 500. Maybe (maybe) Penske can bring it back. In 2021. Or 2022. Or ...

Like fans in seats. Like every other sport. Which isn't happening for a long time. Last place you want to be is shoulder to shoulder with thousands of other people shouting.

That’s your opinion. At least racers like Donnie Beechler got a chance to run at the Brickyard. There was a time when true racers ran everything from dirt midgets to dirt champ cars to stock cars to sports cars to Indy to F1.

Would we have seen Villeneuve, Fittipaldi, Mansell, etc. run the 500 if not for the success of CART at the time? These were world champions. |
