Red Hook Criterium

Anyone planning to go tomorrow? I hope to be there around 8:30.

I saw Mario Cipollini at Grand Army Plaza outside Prospect Park this morning. He looks very fit.

No, he's just visiting the city, I suppose to promote his brand. R&A Cycles in Brooklyn sells his bikes.

"The Lion King, Mario Cipollini will be in town this weekend for the Red Hook Crit, supporting the top Italian contenders and hanging out at R&A Cycles. He’ll be leading a casual ride at Prospect Park on Friday morning (9:30 am GAP) followed by a Q&A at R&A Cycles. We’ll also let him try a few laps on Saturday if he brings a track bike."

I don't think I've ever seen more track bikes in Prospect Park than this morning. Lots of tomorrow's racers were going out for a spin.

Cannot believe that I wasn't working today, and that was next door to me, and I didn't know. Utterly gutted.

I have to work a race all day tomorrow or I'd be there no doubt. Great race, great times.

Is there going to be a live stream this time or do we just have to scour social media/periscope?

I won't make it this year but the RHC is always super fun. If you are around NY you should definitely go to this

He looked remarkably fit. That giant pack following him around the park was fun.

I really like having all the riders in town for Red Hook. Fun to meet everyone.

I'll be cheering for our amazing Austin-based athletes -- Sammi Runnels in the women's race and Tristan Uhl, Joaquin Najar, and Colin Strickland in the men's. They all race the weekly crit here with us mere mortals and Colin will tow our fast Sat ride for the first 35 miles over mixed terrain on his fixie. Monster. I believe he won three of the four Red Hooks last year. Not bad for a guy with a full time job!
