A little OT: AirBnB's ID verification

I'm a newbie with AirBnB and just created an account for my wife. I started filling out their requested information and came across the fact that I will be required to provide a government issued ID to a third party entity. What the heck? I understand them trying to make things as safe as possible, but it makes me very uncomfortable to scan an image of a DL and let "Jumio" have this on file.

Here's an interesting article about this issue...
http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/kris-co...b_4887509.html

In their, she notes the following...

"Jumio may use the Personally-Identifying Information a user submits for any purposes related to Jumio's business, including, but not limited to providing you with Jumio's services and personalizing and improving those services for you."

What do you guys think? Am I being too paranoid?
