tommy also had a different motivation for doping. I mean, doping specifically for KOMs and local hero status is...well...yeah. Not that Tommy (or any doper) is justified, but let's be clear about how low one has to be to dope for KOMs... Maybe that's the wrong way to look at it and KOMs aren't a measure of purity to begin with, so **** it. Ride a bike with a motor. I dunno. whole thing is kind of eyerolling to me. I mean, someone is going to take Phil's KOMs at some point too. |

Beat, I kicked someone out of a meeting once for saying the cookie texture was "Sandy" after I brought them for everyone.

Update: Horner's Palomar time is back up there and still the KOM. Someone had flagged it. Gaimon's Strava activity says it was just an exploratory foray. Word on the hill is that he mistakenly thought he was three minutes behind pace and soft pedaled to the top.
The Elliptigo KOM remains at 1:05. |

I think it got more attention than he intended. It was just for the satisfaction of taking the KOMs from someone because that person valued KOMs enough to dope to get them. And to motivate himself to keep training. Seems fair enough. If you think about it though, there are better than even odds that these KOMs are going to be taken by someone that is doping so they can win KOMs. Way too serious.

peel diamond doesn't get ambiguity aka there are no KOM dopers
a hypothetical or speculative foray, if you will (hi fuzzalow!)
what if one were doping to be fast(er) and what if one were doping because they believed to be stronger/fitter/healthier and what if one received much free marketing (10K plus strava, instagram followers) due to this perceived super-humaness and what if one designed and made their own cycling apparel and what if one of these kits retailed for $600 and what if one were able to use the revenue from these kits to pay rent and eat? ya, that's nothing like doping to make 50 grand in Europe. of course, peel would know better as I don't have a soap bar tatted on my butt cheeks. Although I'd concede that you've got a better shot of apeing the pretense of Dowton Abbey proper-King's-English than I'll ever be able to pulloff talkin' anything that passes for SoCal street patter. BTW if Dowton Abbey is not the right example of upper-crust pretense, forgive me. I don't watch shows much but I needed something proper & British and the only other thing I knew was Monty Python and that wasn't the right simile. |

Right, and this was more my meta point. I mean, ultimately we find ourselves in a tit-for-tat game of weirdness. We can test the **** out of a UCI racer winner...lot harder to ask the local dude to piss in a cup over his KOMs...that's more or less what I meant by there is probably even less purity here than chipped race times. (if that is at all possible...) There's also a lot of strong local dudes out there I imagine who have their own trove of KOMs that are completely clean and might come under scrutiny, though I am guessing you'd be hard-pressed to find someone that owned the franchise the way NBS did. |
