Kids bikes: from first time pedalers to high-zoot rippers

PDF of sea otter article. Food for thought for all you newer parents.

My son has the 16inch Clearly. It shreds hard. Super well made bike.

I was recently looking for a new bike for my son, ended up with the Cleary Hedgehog as well. Agree, it's a great bike for the money. My son loves it!

My daughter rocks a Cleary Hedgehog as well. My son is about to get an Isla Bikes. Both are nice.

I had my kids on lightweight BMX bikes initially (Redline...Trailboss maybe?) sub 15 lbs., they loved them. Then they wanted gears, and we wound up with two Specialized Riprocks, which were great on flat ABQ trails, but now that all our riding has hills, they complain they are too heavy. I'm thinking about switching to Cleary Owls now, though I'd like a light rigid 20" with gears.
