Any carpet spot remover (as suggested by 45K10) should do the trick. Those are based on dry cleaning fluids and alcohol, and will clean the carpet and dry without a trace. Avoid using water based cleaners, as the water will change the appearance of the nap of the carpet (exactly the way a suit is ruined if you run it through the washing machine.)

What's being left in your case is aluminum residue that transferred from the trainer drum to the tire. The trick is to get it up off the carpet, and that takes an actual carpet cleaner with a lot of suction. You want to be pH neutral or you stand a risk of oxidizing the aluminum further and creating a bigger problem. I had this problem with some bare aluminum Kreitler roller drums, and found that using warm water in a carpet washer did it without doing anything to react the aluminum. The brushing and sucking action of a carpet cleaner does better than trying to use a solvent, and you definitely don't want to use an ionic soap.

Yes. I have the prior version of this and have cleaned up hundreds of dog accidents with it. It also touches up upholstery very nicely, works perfectly to clean your car carpeting, and is ideal for taking up aluminum tire marks from carpet. With warm water only in it this is also great for cleaning Persian and Oriental carpets. It's well worth the price.
