Electronic shifting for our cable actuated derailleurs
I spotted this nifty product on Pinkbike about a company Archer that is creating a gizmo that can transforms cable actuated derailleurs to electronic. I hope they succeed. Its for MTB application, but I bet road will be not to far away.

All. The complexity of both systems and none of the ease of either.

I suspect you have nothing but facts and logic to support your claim.

This is baffling.

I think it could be interesting. separating the derailleur bit from the expensive electronic bit.
that way you are only replacing the less expensive mechanical bits after crashes or prolonged use or whatever.

what's the tech solution there, a shifting unit-of-sorts where you hook up the cable, and it does the shifting? in other words, two derailleur cables are all that's needed?
brilliant bypass if so. that is, if the tech works. what's the cable force/pull/whatever it's called required to move the derailleurs? must have some mighty strong little drive/gear system in that little box. |

Could be very useful if one is mixing and matching speeds and brands quite a bit. If done well, I don't think why reliability should be an issue.
I wonder what the price will be. |

This thing sounds super nice... I want to see it working. No more worries about broken brifters, hope doesnt look too ugly tho.
Road bikes for kids... small hands have a lot of problems clicking the levers sometimes, just set up electronic and good to go. No more brifters, just buy your fav brake lever and good to go???? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSG4Vj4E-8k |
