I rented today from Bikesmith and had an excellent experience there. Super nice guy and a good bike.

Made most of the Flagstaff climb before momma called me to come home. . It was blowing like crazy - I guess from the front moving in. I'll be back with some fitness next time.

Boulder Bikesmith show a choice of a Giant Defy 1 or a 5 on their website- are there any others available in store?

Hah, I was looking at the website at 5am, doubted they'd be there. I'll try to call then at lunch.

They have either a Defy or a Contend, I'll grab a Defy tomorrow.

I seem to have brought the English weather with me, which is something of a shame.

Great success! Although I could really use a 130mm stem.

EDIT posting pictures really isn't happening today for whatever reason so here's a link to my majestic steed: https://instagram.com/p/BTM8d2Jg6cU/

Todays weather is much more like it, therefore I shall combine this:

With this:

Unless anyone thinks this is a terrible idea?

I was going to ride Four Mile then Gold, but the chap in the shop warned me that the un-paved roads would not be a terribly good idea on the Allez he'd just rented to me.

Sounds like he is channeling the 'gotta have a GRoad bike' mantra. I'd say it would be fine. It's just a dirt road. Pretty day, little breezy outta the south but nice.

Ended up with a section of gravel anyway, which was fine on the bike I had.

I've finally bought a bike to leave in Colorado- a Serotta Colorado, specifically.

However, I need wheels, a cassette, handlebars. Would anyone local have anything they'd like to sell me? Im flying in Friday.

And it looks like I forgot brake calipers, which I'll also need.

If local doesn't work out for you I have plenty of bars and more than likely a set of wheels I can sell you cheap, but shipping will probably run around $50 via bike flights.

A clamping area with a diameter suitable for a Serotta ti stem- I have Nitto's in my one back in the UK, which I think means 25.4? 42cm wide and a classic shape for preference but I'll take whatever is available.
