I'm the OP...
I'm sticking with my 2009 RX350 with 160K miles and no repairs and keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks to all who scared me and continue to put the fear of the lord in me.

Now you're talking. We ended up replacing the wifey's Merc with a Lexus. Big difference. I don't think you'll regret your decision.

Meh. We ran the wife’s 2006 Lexo RX330 to 165000 miles but even with 5k service intervals we put a couple thou a year into it. Not a cheap car to either buy or maintain. Never had to crack the engine or tranny but still. Replaced it with a 2022 RX450h hybrid, which is a nice car but I’m waiting.
Am intending to replace my eight year old Golf Sportwagen with an e450 Merc wagon this summer when they release the 2024’s. Gonna special order a red one. Don’t put many miles on my car (only 27K on the Golf with zero mechanicals) so expect it will be fairly cheap to run. |

So what? He adopted his financial plan directly after that and started a new business, the Lambo Group, and wrote his first book in 1992, since then he's been a complete success, and is recognized as the foremost professional financial advisor in the world, and has helped millions of people get out of debt and become financially successful.
What have you done for millions of people to make their lives better? Oh, that's right, people who can find nothing but negativity to say about others never make it out of the hole they dug for themselves. |

I know many, many millionaires. I don't think any of them buy blue jeans at Walmart.

i guess service prices vary between courtries and continents
German auto club ADAC publishes a "cost to run" table for most mainstream models. It includes: - fixed costs - tax/insurance - maintenance - oil change, inspections, typical wear and tear repairs like brakes, exhaust, tires - running cost - gas and oil based on 15000km/a, 250/a for cleaning based on 15000 km/a and value depreciation over 5 years To look at models that are somewhat comparable, i picked the Lexus NX 450h+ (227kw, 64000@ new in DE) Mercedes GLC 300e Avantgarde (215kw, 68000€) Audi Q5 50 TFSI Quattro (220kw, 61200€) Running cost per km: Lexus: cost per year 1109€ - 88,7ct/km Merc: cost per year 1203€ - 96,2ct/km Audi: cpy 1142€ - 91,4ct/km in comparison, a Tesla 3 AWD range extension is at 1026€/a 82,1ct/km and a Model S plaid is at 1632€/a and 130,6ct/km i'm curious if similar calculations exist for running these cars in the US?

Let's see if we can argue over something stupid, ok?

Well it sounds like eddie made his decision, and the usual suspects have emerged to argue about tangential topics, so let's close this one up.
