Lovin' what I'm seeing

Still trying to figure out how to get my hands on a disc compatible frame to convert one of my cross bikes without spending a ton of dough

I've got the brakes, discs, wheels, and tires figured out.

I just need to figure out a frame set

Redline conquest disc. Pretty inexpensive.

I have been thinking the same thing. Maybe it is time to part with the look 595 and get something for the dirt.

Fair question. I think the differences are nuanced between the fat tyre end of the Axiom (road) spectrum and the more versatile end of the Mudhoney spectrum (versus a dedicated cx-racer with no bottle cage or fender mounts, for example). I suspect the model (name) chosen depends on what the end-user envisions they will use their bike for most.

Mine is designed for long distance road use, albeit with many of those being "roads." It has the low bottom bracket that I mentioned earlier in the thread, as well as fittings for generator lights and mudguards/fenders that you can't see in the photos I posted and a third water bottle mount. It's also designed to work with 650Bs, which is an easy swap with disk brakes. Anyway, an Axiom seemed to fit the bill for me.

Thought about the Straggler. A little concerned about weight (Surlys have never been light) compared to others.

Will look at Redline

Again, trying for frameset but also thought about the new Raleigh Tamland or a Cannondale CAAD-X and just changing tires.

The only problem is that both of those come with Shimano and all my bikes are SRAM.

Seems like there are so many more choices coming at us recently.

Don't forget to look at the All City Macho Man disc model.

Looks sweet for the $$$$.

Also, a used Salsa ti La Cruz would be way too tempting for me.

My son rides a La Cruz with discs and it is a heck of a nice gravel bike. Imho

I am rocking a soma double cross disc and it has been great. I have been using it as a commuter / light tourer but if I wante to race it I would probably add a lighter fork over the stock steel.

I took a look at Soma and read lots of good vibes for the Warbird as a gravel bike but I really am trying to do this as cheap as I can. I will look at the Double Cross

I am planning to "retire" my Serotta cross frame and transfer as much stuff as possible. Even with that I will need disc wheels, rotors, and calipers, plus new cables and "fat" tires.

Grady, I think I'm pulling the trigger and ordering a Macho Man on Monday. It seems like a superb value at just over a grand (wholesale) with 105.
