Just out of the box. My commute to the office can easily be about 90% single track. I figured that a gravel bike would be the perfect commuter for this fat guy still recovering from a motorcycle wreck. Have to admit that the Masi nameplate first attracted me although there's really no connection at all to the old Masi. However, it's nicely set up and with a good closeout deal on last year's model, this was a good choice for my needs.

Took the Black Mountain Cycles Monstercross out on a shakedown today.

25 miles of bliss.

Trails here are muck, so are the gravel roads I ride after the recent 15" snowfall.

So far, so good.

Heh thanks.

Couple of switches already.

Went to Soma Supple Vitesse SL 700x42s.

The 38s were nice, but I wanted more float.

They went on my Bilenky tourer.

Also added another King cage with the tool bag on the dt.

Just need to add the Klickfix for the Swift Paloma and I'm good.

Centaur 10 with UT cranks and ultra shift
Brakes are Campagnolo
Wheels are fulcrum 5
Thomson post
Thomson stem (guessing)
Salsa bell lap bars

Or at least that sure looks like the Merckx bits.

Grady, she turned out great. The updates post picture sound perfect. That Merckx though... This is a better match for the application, but I love that Merckx frameset.

Not very creative but the CC gets the job done on 42s.

As for the Merckx, it's a very nice frameset.

I just needed the brazeons on the Monstercross.

I have a Tubus Tara that will see duty on our longer trips this summer.

The Merckx is headed to the classifieds soon.

Someone will love it, no doubt.

I'm trying to get back down to a smaller stable and ride more.

Explored what I'm pretty sure is the closest actual gravel of significant length to my house.

Pine Mtn?

Is that on Pine Mtn?
I saw your bike in front of Fairfax Coffee Roasters this morning.
That is about the worst loop on a rain day- much less a super cold rain day
