Casati Linea D'oro

Ok, ci provo...

Hand-built Casati, pretty pantographs, cool down-tube shifter boss detail, Columbus slx, likely mid-late 80's vintage.

I think $700 is fair (middle of the fair way price).

Thoughts?

ps. Good luck on the sale, I'm always searching for casati laser.

The bike is in Italy? If you sell it on eBay I think you are going to get over $1,000. Of course, then you need to factor in the 10-12% you are going to need to pay eBay & PayPal.

The bike looks great with some neat details like the placement of the downtube shift levers.

I'd be interested in it if the shipping isn't too expensive.

Best of luck!

Nice bike. I would tend to think that with the pantographed components and the small (~52/53cm?) size, it should be worth a bit more than $700. You would need to open up an auction to worldwide shipping and take LOTS of high resolution pictures.

If you haven't already, check out this forum for an appraisal: http://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vi...als-inquiries/

And for general info / questions about shipping, etc. - try this one: http://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vintage/

At ebay you might get more money. What the guys are telling sounds right to me... 700 to 1200...

If you want to sell it please clean it ok? The bike looks like crap because is not clean... secondly... get the saddle post higher, like twice higher because as it is right now looks goofy and some buyers will ran away of it just because of the looks.

Good luck with the sale.

I have 3 Casati's, 2 Gold Lines. I can't imagine you'd get close to $1000 for that bike when you can buy NOS Gold Line frames w/fork for less then $800 on Ebay. From your pics it looks as though the bike has numerous/obvious wear marks on the frame and parts. Guys that buy these type bikes want a beautiful example. If the gold plating on the fork and stays has any pitting whatsoever the price drops considerably again. The fluted Campy post with paint has some value as does the panto crankset IF it's in excellent condition. You can used CASATI panto stems every day of the week for $50 or less on Ebay. If the entire bike was mint or close to it then $1000 or more isn't unreasonable but in it's current condition I don't think it's worth close to $1000. Lastly, I'd listen to what a couple others have said about presentation. You really need to clean that bike, polish the parts, de-grease, raise saddle etc and then take some great photos to get the most bang for your buck.
Good luck.
