Replacement bora 35 rims ?? Or write off ??

Morning,

Just wondering if anyone has replaced th rims on their bora 35s (tubulars ?) front or rear ?

Had a brand new unridden pair I lent to a really fast junior here in Osaka for a hill climb event and he unfortunately hit a large unexpected pothole at high speed cracking (almost completely through)!both rims.

Wondering if replacement rims are going to be a cost effective option or not.
I can't ask him to pay, although he offered.

Today's a bad day !!

Replacement rims

If you are the original owner, you can work directly with Campy USA to have the rim replaced. Please PM me and I can share some additional details. I lived through this with some Bora Ultra 50's.

@Caballero
I assume that you're based in Japan (since you mentioned Osaka).
Get in touch with Campagnolo Japan (based in Yokohama), ask them for a quote on the rims.

However, be prepared for the worst though as I'm pretty sure the Bora rims itself will cost as much as a pair of brand new Bora Ones..
(Campagnolo replacement rims were never cheap to begin with, and this includes the alu rims).

Or you can spend the same amount buying a new set from the UK (facilitated by a forumite in the US, of course). Hit me up.

Then you'll have an extra set of hubs and spokes so the wheels can last for 100 years!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all the replies. I've spoken with campy Japan, as I am in Osaka and can confirm the replacement rim cost is almost as much adam new wheels.

I guess I'll eventually buy a new set but for now I'm going to get a set of hed c2 tub, r45 wheels for the mountains.

Cheers guys

You don't need to be the original owner since this isn't warranty work. If they have the rims, it can be done.

^ This. This is a repair, not a warranty. And are the rims different between the Bora Ones and the Ultras? I thought the difference was in the hubs. If it's in the rims, does anyone know what the difference is?

Yeh, he was. But you know, I knew that it was possible when I lent them to him and it was purely an accident, no way I can make him feel bad about it.

Just sux. On top of this, last weekend I found a crack in one of my tune rear hubs, and another set of wheels had to be returned last month due to a bad build.

Crap timing as I'm off to Japanese alps in a week or so ! Need some hed c2 tubs ASAP !!

Better kid than the one I loaned out a Comete disc to for Junior time trial nationals. He crashed, broke it and his dad told me in no uncertain terms that he wasn't going to pay for it.

Question:
Is Campy Bora rims repairable?
As what I understood, they are not and Campy would recommend replacing them.
Do correct if I'm wrong.

Cheers
