Very cool write up, Peter. Love the medallion on the brakes. Congrats!
Not to horn in on your thread, but I had one of my bikes featured on the interwebs, as well. My SS Hollands was part of Pez Cycling's "Readers Rigs" about 3 years ago, along with a friends' bike. Mine is the second one.

Same, under "ch. carbon" (presumably and accurately for China carbon)!

Great read - thanks for sharing!

Oh, wow! I missed that on the first read, and I'm not sure the ModestPotatoe has ever posted that here. I'd never seen it before. The details on that are incredible; a very, very nice homage.

That said, I wouldn't kick the MXL out of the garage. The fork alone makes me swoon every time.

QOTY #1:
“I confirmed with Campagnolo North America that the wires would be long enough, and then I got my Athena EPS group, took out my 5/16″ drill, and drilled holes in the damned frame.”

QOTY #2:
“I prefer to ride alone,” he says. “The who/where/when/how-fast/how-far gig is tiresome. I also ride with no electronic stuff (except for EPS). I seldom know where I’m going to ride when I pedal out my driveway; I kind of decide on the run. And, although I know where I’m going, I don’t know a lot of the road names I’m on. I ride because I like to ride; I don’t care if I ride the same place everyday.”

Unlike Shimano Di2 and SRAM Red eTap electronic drivetrains, which automatically go into sleep mode after a prescribed period of inactivity, Campagnolo EPS requires users to manually shut the system off to prevent battery drain. A small magnetic switch plugs into the back of the battery module on this first-generation EPS unit.

Ha ha ha! Love it!

I like the mashup of new and old and taking a drill to the frame.

I must admit that I kinda glossed over this topic way back, but reading the article and looking at the cool shots, that is a seriously cool bike.

this makes me want to know about the diffabtw EPS and Di2 - can anyone suggest a good thread? I am a campy guy who tried Di2 recently and it's pretty great. Once things are electronic, does it level the playing field between manufacturers? Ie, does it matter if I like mech campy if I am shopping for electronics?

Oops, derailing thread. Can someone suggest a link? Or OP can advise, as he will know every detail !!

Go ride both if you can. ERGO shifters very similar, EPS and mech(EPS droopy thumb button)...Di2 much different shifters than shimano mech. Both similar tho when it comes to function and options.

What is that screwed into the shifter bosses? Something homemade?

They look like standard Campagnolo downtube cable stops, with the adjusters removed, to me.
