Doug, the secret is to get up before dawn, ride PV atfirst light, and get ice refills at the Camelback Inn. Home before it gets too hot
PM me if you don't know about the free ice/water/restroom spot. You need gills to breathe here, and the potholes/frost heaves on rust belt roads make it thoroughly unenjoyable, never mind the fact that now I have to 'share' the road with texters doing 65 and there is no shoulder, let alone a bike lane. I'll take a PHX Summer anytime. Of course, being retired, I rode early, and napped in the heat of the day. I guess it would suck to have to go to work after one of your rides |

PM incoming We were in Flagstaff last weekend and it was friggin amazing. I realized that when i have saved enough money we will be buying a second home up there. Probably when i'm in my late 90's. Last edited by azrider; 06-11-2013 at 04:33 PM. |

With all due respect to the residents; they say you get used to the heat in Arizona. Personally, I don't know why you would want to.

^^ Because it is not that bad because of the dry heat. It might be a little cooler in DFW, but I would take North Scottsdale over DFW. I lived in way north Scottsdale at 3,000 feet elevation so it was a lot cooler than in the heat of Phoenix. I lived in Scottsdale for 17 summers.

And people think I'm crazy for moving from Phoenix to Fargo. I'll take -20 over 120 any day! Ahh memories of sitting in my car (with broken AC) during rush hour on US-60 in 115+ heat. F that.

I'm seriously going to become a snowbird when I retire. Gold Canyon is gorgeous during the winter, but I'll take Duluth during the summer.

Speaking of AC......my fiance had her AC blowup in her Jeep just two weeks ago and now the AC in my car is mysteriously, sporadically shutting off completely......just long enough for me to scream, bang my hands against the steering wheel, and once that first tear starts to stream down my cheek it turns right back on. i wish we had that AZ humidity.
the morning commute at 77-80*F and 80%humidity can get annoying. http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/...kday=Wednesday kinda lucky this year as it's not really a hot summer. barely been over 100*F at all. |
