Google says Costner's 6'1". My highly trained bike pron scanning eye says that frame is a 56...too small for Costner.

Back in the day??? 56 would had been too small... who knows how much the sucker paid for the bike too. If he paid 1000 bucks back in the day he paid way too much already.

judging by the HT on this bike, i'd have to agree. it's not vastly different but it is longer. as is the stem. and unless it was re-cabled, the housings are shorter in this pic where longer in the ebay with the stem in higher position.

oh, and the SR laprade post in the ebay bike is red details while black in the movie.

From what I remember reading, she had many really bad attempts before she got it right. Actually tossed the "bad" wheel into the road causing riders to crash.

But Hollywood being what Hollywood is....more than likely he is (or was) an even 6', or possibly even a little less.

I don't know who the seller is but his explanation of how he obtained the bike sure rings true. However, it looks to me like the stem and bars have been changed although the brake levers are the same. Perhaps there was more than one bike used during the movies or perhaps some fitment changes were done at some point? So, maybe we shouldn't base everything on that one screen shot.
