What strikes me is the size of the sign (Was a wearable sandwich board not available?) which speaks to the importance of this issue in this individual's life.

bumper stickers are such a great way to educate other road users about topics that are important to us. religious beliefs, political affiliations, passive-aggressive rants, how much we love kittens. anything goes out there on the bumper.

That would require walking...or at least standing....

There is a certain segment of the driving population that is infuriated by your just being there on a bike. I don't understand the mindset and whether it is triggered by your looking like you are having fun, your looking fit or what. It's important to know that it exists and that it is dangerous to you. These people will often find some small infraction-real or imagined- to justify their righteous indignation. It's best not to engage them whenever possible, however difficult to resist the urge. It's best never to engage mentally deranged individuals.

I'm betting the people he hangs out with agree with him..'self loathing', that's a hoot. Some comments sound 'righteous', evangelical' to me. I don't think a cyclist, runner, pedestrian, car driver, motorcyclist, pilot, etc, occupies any special place that allows them to do dumb things. But....

There is a lot of friction between cyclists and card drivers around the republic, a lot..see it almost everyday.

See a stop sign? Stop at it. See a red light? Stop at it. Ride/drive defensively.

out.

The sign really reads to me, " Caution: you are following behind an A**Hole".

if I'm riding solo and there's no on coming traffic at the intersection, I run the sign/light just to avoid having big trucks like his (tailgate sticker guy) sit on my wheel. Always feels like they're waiting to run me over when the light turns green.

I'm a broken record today..."assume that nobody sees or cares to see you on your bike, live to ride tomorrow."

It's Friday, folks!

Taken purely at face value, the message itself is pretty banal. Surely, everyone on the road needs to know what a stop sign is, not just a-hole cyclists. So that's not so interesting. Another thing is that it only addresses a certain type of cyclist, and says nothing about, say, nice-guy cyclists.

Honestly, I am certain that if every single bicyclist he ever saw stopped completely at every stop sign, he would still be every bit as angry at them.

That being said, the road has laws and if WE want protection from those laws against people breaking the law, we need to not be hypocrites breaking traffic laws we find inconvenient.

I did a track stand the other day, let a vehicle to my left through, went on my merry way ........quickly had a motorist come roaring up beside me shouting that I didn't stop.

Bloke roared away, and turned left............through a red left turn signal.
