Garmin 1000 question re: maps on unit

I think the unit comes from Garmin with a base map and Open Street Maps for the USA. I followed some online instructions for downloading Western Europe from the Open Street Maps website. I can see this file on my Garmin: gmapsupp.img.

Is there any way to view that map, or do I have to be located in Europe to see it. I am trying to make sure I have it before I leave town.

Try to input a European address and see if it comes up? Pick a starting point where you will be visiting in the round trip routing section and see if it works. Should get detailed directions.

Zoom way out, then scroll/pan over to Europe, and zoom back in. That's what I did to check if mine were working. You may need to make sure they are enabled...

Settings>Profiles>Maps, I think?
