Platform Pedal Mods When Using Straps?

Hi.

If the title of this post isn't clear, I'm trying to get some advice about the wisdom of removing the studs (nubbins?) from BMX platform pedals when using straps. I assume such a mod' is done to allow your foot to more quickly/easily escape from the pedal when bailing.

I have never used straps before. I want to improve my FGFS skills and I'm thinking straps will be essential for that. Still, I don't want to go hurting myself more than I have to by setting them up improperly.

Thanks for reading and for any advise/experience you care to share.

Not sure what you're on about either, but I'll give props to the local boy's powergrip pedals if you're looking for a pedal strap system.
