Anybody out there? I'm moving soon and wouldn't mind finding some riding partners.

northern california coast is some beautiful country. i've only visited and never ridden but consider yourself lucky. if you don't have one already, consider picking up a mountain bike

There's great road and off-road along the North Coast. That said, unless it rains this winter, the whole area is going to dry up and blow away, leaving behind only the growers, who irrigate their crops regardless.

If I ever fall off the face of the planet, Humboldt is where you can find me. Ferndale specifically...

I've been out there several times over the years and love it.

Check out http://tuccycle.org for a few routes in the area.

+1 on the North Coast. The Tour of the Unknown Coast route is pretty amazing. Epic loop out to the Pacific, Avenue of the Giants - good stuff!

Some good MTB too. Paradise Royale in the BLM's King Range NCA is a real nice loop. Active trail community in Eureka/Arcata.

All from an out-of-towner! I got to spend four months there a few years back doing work for BLM. If you can get past the unique local economy, it is a pretty special place.

PS - KHUM is one of the best radio stations in the country. I still stream it at home on the east coast.

If you are ok with the weather

an incredibly beautiful place on the planet. No experience on those roads, but I bet you can smoke until you just don't care.

I don't remember the exact # but our local big city paper, the Sacramento Bee cited that the majority of the economy up there is, in one way or another, pot-based. A quick Google search reveals similar findings

A very beautiful place, regardless. I've only been on a few rides like thru the Avenue of the Giants but very impressive. Enjoy!
