Would be interesting to see what turns out, for example in spain a guy carlos perez (spainish team trainer) wrote like 4 books that havent been re-published, even my spanish friends did not know them.

A guy who trained me had some 1940s and 1960s italian books, interesting stuff.

oh man...hmmm, I cant read spanish or italian! but others can here yes...be nice to get some insight...I read flemish, but badly....

I will give you you one...I just finished Freddy Maertens autobiography...Fall from Grace...cost me like 50 bucks to buy a cheap paperback as it is out of print...but it is a great book...really very good! I love the way he slams the great Eddy...a very good and honest book from back then and I bet fairly truthful now in a sense...

Any interest in starting a cycling book thread?

There's been a few threads of book recommendations... would be nice perhaps if they were merged and stickied

Yep, count me in. I don't ride as much in the winter so a good time to read.

These are some of the books I was talking about, hope some spanish speaker that really want to learn could find them....

Cycling in the base... that teach you all the base stuff, but races, definitions, kids.. pre and post season... etc.

Road cycling...

And my favorite one... the track one....

Rob Penn, who wrote "It's All About the Bike," reviewed my book, Fat Tire Flyer, last week in the Wall Street Journal. He liked it a lot. I liked his book too.

Andy Homan wrote a marvelous book about track racing legend Bobby Walthour Jr. at the turn of the 19th Century, "Life in the Slipstream."

Andrew Ritchie: Quest for Speed

Richard Moore: In Search of Robert Millar.

Kings of the Mountains by Matt Rendell (who wrote the death of Pantani book...awesome read) is a great read...all about the history of Colombian cycling and it's importance in it's complicated culture...wonderful book...

one of the better reads I got last year was Charlie Wegelius's book "Domestique"...a very good description of the day to day life of a worker in the peloton...

just finished Hincapies book...it is a decent read and is a page turner....well written as well...tho the way guys blows his own horn you would think he believes he is up for beatification from the church or something...great rider, serious worker, sure...but also just the best humanitarian, team leader, inspirer of youth and all round super guy to friends and family...maybe that is true, I have no real idea...but as a real statement of George talking about just how fantastic he thinks he is in every area of life, he couldn't have done better...and oh yeah, not a single doubt about doping... that bit is sorta refreshing actually compared to the self pats on the back he does...but good read...

Cool to see some folks might be interested in talking books out here...

Hmm, not finding any book "Peter McMahon".

Also, I just finished Ten Points and the parts about his abusive childhood were brutal to read, just a warning.

I'm more into the 80s and 90s stuff, less into the spiritual side of things.

Dog In Hat (my thoughts here)
Breaking the Chain
Secret Race
Armstrong's War (same author as Secret Race, Daniel Coyle, best writer so far)

Based on reviews etc I've read apparently I'm not as enthralled by The Rider as others.

I'm not necessarily a Lance fan (never was) but Daniel Coyle is a really good writer, at least for me, and I'm a bit shocked at myself for liking Armstrong's War so much.

Read each of the books at least 4-5 times; most of my books I've read a minimum of 2-3 times (The Rider I read 3 or maybe 4 times). I just read Secret Race again, read the other three within the last 6 months.
