Not to derail this thread any more than necessary but when I look at the levers and where the rounded part of the drops sit I see a reasonable lever position. If I were using these bars I'd have the levers in a similar position.

In the actual "ergonomic drop" position, with the palm of the hand on the small arch thing, there's no way a rider could reach a reasonably placed lever.

Personally I'm not a fan of the original style ergo bars. I got a set for the tandem because they were cheap and had the right clamp diameter (at the time I only had 26.0 bars, tandem stem was 31.8 or whatever). I spend a lot of time on the drops on the tandem, close to 100%, and the levers are pretty high up on the bars.

BUT if I did ride out of the drops your set up is very astute.
I ride the drops a lot and this is probably what influences my setup. Let the drops stay constant and use bar drop to locate hood height for the type of riding that bike will be used for.

I'm thinking about trying some "cafe style" bars on my single speed.

I mainly use the drops for when I am going downhill or working my a$$ off trying to stay attached. otherwise I am out there on the hoods.

I set the bars so I get 7.5-8.0 drop to the hoods. Of course the drops put me that much lower. what i cannot reconcile for myself versus your comments is i dont have a want to be higher. when I have been higher, like 5.0-6.0cm drop, the bike doesn't feel as right. and, i think I would need the bars higher to be able to ride in the drops as much as you are implying you do.

My main bike has 11cm of drop from top of saddle to the top of the bars. I ride in the drops probably 80% of the time on solo rides. I even climb from the drops a lot, even when standing. It helps that I am 6'1" and mostly torso/arms.

I'm only 5'10" so 11cm is out of the question for me.

Comparing drop is pointless. So many variables.

Yes. That's why I didn't bother posting measurements in my original post.

The measure to the drops is important for any fitter worth seeing. But talking one rider to the next is damn silly without all other measures and physio of both riders included in the conversation...
