Pit Stop sealant
Will it work on a non removable valve core tubular? I have a Vittoria tubular with a somewhat slow leak.
Thanks, Jeff

Yes, it's intended for tubes with valves in. Same with Caffe Latex Espresso stuff.

I've had my best luck with PitStop in that exact scenario.
That said... manufacturing tubulars without a removeable valve core...

It's designed for roadside fixes, so yes.

I've used Pit Stop twice to repair on the road punctures in my tubulars and never had to remove the valve. One time the fix was permanent and the second time it sealed only enough to get me home. I've recently started pre-treating with Orange Seal.

With Pit Stop, you must not remove the valve core. Open the valve, let out the remaining air from the tire, and place the nozzle directly over the valve stem (you may need to press the tire at the valve with your other hand to get good contact until the tire is inflated). Hold the can/nozzle there for about a minute while it injects sealant and gas. Remove the can/nozzle, close the valve and spin the wheel. Ride on.
I've used it several times over the years and it does not work 100% of the time. There are some cuts/punctures it can't seal. However, when I ride tubulars, I carry only Pit Stop and a phone. It's a nice and light solution for my riding. |
