Vests, high-vis/ reflective & Clyde-friendly...

I am looking for a lightweight summer vest with some high-vis/ reflective material, to wear over a jersey. Not for warmth or wind protection, just extra visibility.

I am a big guy 6'-4" and over 220 lbs (with a bit of a gut).

I like the Rapha brevet Vest, but don't think it will fit my "man-body" too well (even in XXL).

Does anyone have any clyde-friendly recommendations for a summer vest that you love?

The Pearl Izumi P.R.O. vests have a more generous fit than Rapha but any of these vests will probably be like wearing a hefty bag when it gets really hot out. If it were me I'd splurge on a very bright light (Dinotte Quad is awesome) and put some hi-viz tape on the helmet if you want belt-and-suspenders.

Why not just get some hi-viz jerseys?

Any vest will be another unneeded layer in the summer.

your weight is fine for the xxl rapha vest but maybe not your height. I find that rapha is really short. The gillet is actually longish, much longer than the jerseys.

Thanks! Maybe, I will look for a hi-vis jersey instead. What do you recommend?

I got this years ago and like it cuz it's very hi viz and not a full cover piece allowing good ventilation.

I have a Giro wind vest that I love. Mine's orange but I've seen them in blue, green... all super bright. I found the sizing to be generous like all Giro stuff and sized down. May work for you (plus it was cheap).

Eleven gear has their "HIGH-VIZ" line of jerseys if you really want to stand out...

Rapha stuff is fine for clydes. I wear XXL in vests/jackets, XL or XXL in jersey, and XL in bibs.

My big problem is that I am literally wide. my sit bones are 170mm apart. that width permeates my entire quite ample super-structure.

Not the highest price nor the tip top quality, but they are bright. Your local shop can get these easily. I have been working with him to get arm warmers that match.

Try wearing an Amphipod Xinglet or similar product over your jersey. You'll still have access to you jersey pockets.
