Best durable cell phone

Garmin sucks. Moved to new area and want to ride and get lost, find my way back home using google maps. I am currently a flip phone user, avoided new phones due to my cheapness, not an APP user, and bad eyes. Eyes are somewhat fixed, looking at 7 or 7 plus but my cheapness comes into play. Looking for good phone with great screen brightness that won't blow apart if slips out of hand in a case.

ideas?

thx
(using verizon)

I'm still using my Samsung Galaxy s5. I don't use a case and have dropped it multiple times with no cracks in the screen and it has adjustable brightness and a bunch of other features.
I used to use a casio gzone when I was working construction and general contracting. It was bombproof, but the screen is smaller if that matters.

If you want a cheap phone that wont hurt you to buy it again if it breaks then I would look to BLU, not bad phones at all.

Looking to replace my Galaxy S3. Not really excited about spending $700+ for the current equivalent. Saw LG Stylo 3, today. Nice phone for $150-250.

Im forced to use a cell and since this time I have to pay for it I had hard time looking at a 700 bucks phone so looking here and there I ended in a BLU.. got it like for 100 bucks, nothing fancy, works just fine and for that price I can even just get another if this one goes south. BTW they have unlocked phones. We got a tiny android one as a spare like for 50 bucks.

Wifey is using a unlocked Asus, I like it a lot... not super expensive either and way better built than mine but cost more tho. I would look at ASUS aswell if I was you.

I've dropped this same phone from 20ft while on scaffolding and it was still good as new

I have heard (from reliable sources) that the Moto G phones are the best/most durable/cheapest smart phones. When my iphone 5 dies i think i am going to get one. Tired of apple 1,000,000 dollar unfixable/unexpandable/fragile products.

They're sort of low-tech, I've found these things to be quite reliable:

I use a Samsung Rugby III. When purchased I requested the most durable phone in inventory. The salesperson held his nose when he handed me the device. I was smitten.

Samsung Galaxy S5 AT&T but a Verizon version is available.
Still top rated by Consumer Reports. Replaceable battery. I have an Otterbox case on mine.

I used Google maps just last week in Minneapolis to figure out where I was.

I've had a Rugby Pro and now an S6 Active

Both are waterproof to X feet and fairly shatterproof

apparently there's such a thing as the Sonim XP7 (I never knew this thing existed) which practically looks like a big, waterproof, fully functional garmin. I just don't know what networks it's available for.
