Thule T2 owners - storage and off vehicle transport systems?

Attention T2 owners who do not leave the rack on their vehicle....

I am wondering how you store it and if you have created a dolly to wheel it around when off the vehicle?

I don't leave the rack on my vehicle since I only need it when their are three or more people. When I take it off I hand carry it into my garage and set the end on a block of wood so it is off the ground. Then I just lean it against a wall.

It's not a big deal, but was just wondering how other folks store theirs.

I was also thining it might be nice to set it on a dolly so it can be wheeled around. So before I go make one, have any of you devised something like this?

I do pretty much exactly what you do: remove it, store it off the ground in one of my sheds, regret not having an easier way to move it around. A dolly sounds like a good idea, though, because of the varied terrain between the relevant shed and the carport, it won't work for me.

Ari, find yourself a garage sale beater little tykes plastic wagon - that could work. The thing for me is I have to duck under hanging bikes, shimmy into the corner behind a 2 bike stand, etc. it would just be eaiser to roll it most of the way. Paul

I store mine off the ground using a 1 1/4 extension secured to a post. It's at shoulder level so it makes it easier to pick up and carry.

I could send you some wheels that would make it easier to get from A to B. They're pretty tall.

Instant pole: link.

I'd imagine any dolly design with a good sized wheel, I like the balloon tires myself for "off road", would also work pretty good. I'm pretty sure this exact type of necessity is why my parents had children, it seems I was always doing stuff like this for them......

I ditched my t2 to get a 1upusa quick rack http://www.1upusa.com/quik-Rack.html. It folds back into the box it ships in, I can just use one tray if I'm riding solo. It's pricey though, but worth it in my situation. I use to switch between a 1.25" & 2" hitch needed something I can put away neatly.

I built a cart for my Thule T2 Pro from an old handtruck.

I store a Thule xt990 hitch rack over the winter or whenever salt is present on the roads hanging from the joist in my garage. The garage is a bit over sized height wise so the joist ends up a bit over ten feet from the ground. This works out well.
I used one over sized threaded and padded j - hook and the rack ends up high enough that I can walk under it with out dinging my head. Not the easiest thing to tote around but I manage OK. Use a three step ladder and all my reach to muscle it up there.

If you have any budget whatsoever, I so strongly suggest this. Ditched my rusting T2 for $200 bucks, bought a 1up, drinking the koolaid. You can fold the damn thing up and store it in your trunk. It's revolutionary.
