Eddie Merckx Frame
A friend asked me today about a new Eddie Merckx steel frame with a carbon fork that he could buy. He said that he thought the frame was made of Tange,
Another friend used to have an EM steel frame with carbon fork and Molteni graphics that he liked. Are they the same frame? If so, are they desirable and would you recommend them. Thanks. |

I have the Roubaix 70, in the Faema (white/red) paint scheme. It's built with Columbus Zona tubing. Very pleased.

The current steel Merckx frames are Columbus Zona tubing with a full carbon fork. The Roubaix is in Faema colors and the Liege model is Molteni Orange. Same frames/forks just with different color schemes.

I like mine
I have the Roubaix version and I like it very much. It has a few nice little touches that set it apart. A chain hanger, chrome chain stay on the drive side, integrated headset and I really like the shape of the fork. So many carbon forks look to fat on steel bikes, but this one just looks right. The paint is very well done. All in all a very nicely done frameset. It's a keeper

Are these new Merckx steel frames made in the Merckx factory, or subbed out to Asia?

Thanks all for the info.
My friend said that he thought the frame was made of Tange, but I went to the EM site today and the ones they were showing were Columbus Zona (Heritage collection). |
