Campagnolo Brake Cable Adjuster O-ring Doohickey?

So, I found a replacement nut for the brake mounting throughbolt for the campy brake - that part seems fixed - thanks all for the info!

The only downside was, I might have futzed around removing and reinstalling the brake and a rubber o-ring doohickey fell out of the brake cable adjuster barrel (if that is the right word). Is this important? I don't know if this is supposed to stabilize the bolt inside the cable adjuster or something like that. It is NOT the rubber rotating knob but rather some O-ring from inside the barrel itself..

I believe a suitable replacement can be found at your local hardware store. ISTR it's 4mm ID, 8mm OD. There are plenty of vendors on eBay selling them in various colors as well.

That o ring was just to prevent the barrel adjuster from falling out before installing the cable..not required.

^ Wasn't that the task of the little blue cardboard doohickey? I thought the o-ring was to make it easier to turn the round nut and adjust the pad position.

Lower end brakes had the o ring, higher end had a rubber, Campag logo cap.

This isn't the rubber o-ring on adjuster but under caliper arm , around thread d end of adjuster...see pic.
