So the trek and the Specialized look like the same bike except the trek has disc brakes. They'd be my top contenders on your list, but I'd cruise the local bike shops and see what's up for sale from them, too. The Fuji looks smaller than they claim because of the stem setup, and I'd avoid the schwinn since it's got what is surely a poor suspension fork. Of course fit and function trumps everything so hopefully you know what is achievable with bar/stem/seat position when you check them out. Also looking for something with rack mounts may be desirable down the road for this type of bike, but there are plenty of workarounds if you fell in love with a bike that didn't have them.
Personally, I'd go for something like an older mtb and make exactly what I wanted: https://denver.craigslist.org/bik/6172427992.html https://denver.craigslist.org/bik/6177297323.html (If it was bigger.) https://denver.craigslist.org/bik/6176629583.html |

I'd buy the Specialized. Cheapest price, looks to be in decent shape, and simple & straightforward components. I'd avoid things like disc brakes & suspension forks in this price range - typically more form than function.

+1 on what woolly said, especially regarding the suspension fork. Just more weight in my view. You might also look for mid to late 90s MTBs. Non-supension Trek 7000, Cannondale M900, etc. were pretty light bikes. Fit some 1.25 or 1.5 slicks and you've got a pretty nice hybrid/commuter.

If I may be so bold as to suggest trying your local bike shop. Assuming you have something "local" to you.
At a certain price range they are all rather similar... Used bikes suck if you don't know what you are looking for/at. |
