OT: Interested in design and its expressions/forms?
A friend recommended a series on Netflix called 'Abstract--The Art of Design'--a series with each episode dealing with a single designer, showing their work, and how they come up with ideas, and something of the process of translating idea into reality.
So far we have watched a graphic artist, footwear designer, stage set designer, architect, auto designer, and a second graphic artist/typographer. They are getting top people but I won't spoil the surprise... Different directors for each segment, different mediums for the principals but you start to see some of the same things at work--the necessity of 'play' for example. Good viewing--as good as good PBS productions for sure. Last edited by paredown; 07-26-2017 at 06:44 AM. |

Thanks. Sounds interesting, will give it a watch.
One relatively new feature on netflix is the ability to temporarily download some content, which is ideal for airplane travel.

I generally find "artists" pretentious blow hards, but I might give this show a shot.

Neato! I love design, good and bad. Cathedrals, clothes, cars, phones, parking lots, woodowrking....bicycles. I find it all so interesting.
It sounds fun to watch and thanks for the recommendation. Went to a auto exhibit a few years ago in Nashville on Deco design and ohmygosh what a tumble design has taken since then. (imo of course)
