I've been using Performance's Forte GripTec for some time. Cheap, no messy residue after, well padded with gel backing, good grip when wet. Appears very similar to some of the Fizik.

Fabric rip stop

I've been using fabric rip stop silicone bar wrap on mostage of my bikes for two years. Great stuff and can be re-wrapped easily. If you shop around you can find it for around $20. Much better than the lizard skins ime.

Is this the performance - classic, soft touch or tacky touch?

Agree bar gels make it too big.[/QUOTE]

That is Performance - Classic

Zipp CX

I like Zipp's CX tape. Similar to Lizard Skins but I've found it adheres better. Downside is really limited in colors.

David T,
Is Zevlin 40 and NFS's Premium Hbar Tape the same product?

+1 I was surprised it was this good...

Another 3mm Tacky Fizik fan here, I put it on last year and it's holding up better than the lizard skin. The stitching in it made it more idiotproof, even I couldn't screw it up.
Might have to try the gel strips on the inner curve of the drops next.

As mentioned, the Bontrager gel cork is super cushy. I prefer Supacaz, though, for cushy + tackiness.

Yes it is. Josh has the Zalvin custom printed for NFS. I have the white-on-black, and it's nice stuff. Rode it yesterday gloveless. He also has black-on-black.

I have used the Zipp tape but the top layers/skin (the color) deteriorated and flaked off in the typical wear spots.

While I like Lizard Skins, I think it is overpriced for what it is.

Thanks All

THank everyone for the input. Found a pack of LS 3.2 and since had good performance from it last time, will burn thru it first.

Lots of great suggestions for next freshening of the bike.

BTW, good review of Fizik product for gravel specific application. It is for the Endurance product not Performance. Cant find any thickness spec on the Endurance only the Performance which is 3.0mm. Seems the Endurance would be thicker? https://ridingagainstthegrain.com/20...y-tape-review/

Anyway, be safe on the road.

Edit - Just found spec for Endurance, it is 2.5mm. Model names are confusing, Performance = 3.0 which seems like it would be Cushier.

The Endurance is 2.5 so it sits in between. Tweener Tape! :-)

the inexpensive, widely available option is cinelli cork. tried and true. good thickness and cush level for long imperfect road riding IMO.
