Talking Tour of California

My 7 year old son is all pumped to see the start of the race in San Diego on Sunday! Can't say I'm not either!

I took him to the finish last year in Pasadena and we did our post race lap around the Rose Bowl. Good memories.

Anyways, this year he'll be cheering on his favorite rider, Sagan.

Anyone else going?

My wife and I are debating watching the finish of the Santa Rosa stage (which we usually do) or riding to the top of Coleman Valley to catch it en route.

The race is doing my local climb around Angeles Crest, Little Tujunga and Big Tujugna. Should be a fund day.

I'm riding with a group of guys up to Santa Barbara for the Gibaltar stage. That should be fun!

I'll be at Laurel St. in San Diego for Stage One with the Adams Avenue crew. Honey Springs will be a much better vantage point, but I'm not going to have the legs on Sunday after a 300K.

Start is great for kids because you can grab goodies from the booths.

I've gone every year (in year saw six stages) but this year it's largely by passing the bay area. it gets close, but if OKC wins tonight I will be at Game #2 WCF next wednesday not standing on the laguna seca track.

Whether you are at the start, the finish, on course, the TT, a KOM....it's really great to see these guys in person.

Last year I lived in Azusa (North LA County) and they went right past my house a couple days before the finish in Pasadena. So cool!

I think I'm going to hang out at the second sprint on Navajo and Boulder. I thought about getting a sling and some antlers for Honey Springs but Party City was out of the antlers. Look for a yellow banana cap.

Might head down for Stage 1. Not sure I want to deal with the madness and I have landscaping work to do at home...we'll see.

Will be interesting to see if Coquard will continue his winning streak.

HMU if you come down. We're hitting one of the party spots near Little Italy with GS Adams Ave. Navajo looks fun too and Barbers Mtn. Road on Honey Springs will rule. Expect any speedo'd runners to be on Honey.
Horner's Strava KOM on there is 26 minutes @16mph. Not sure they will snag that as there is probably no need to race the whole climb. Maybe an attack around the fire station to the top.

Back country San Diego looked terrific on the TV - north of the 8 not so much. Great first stage.
