Installing disc rotor on WI CLD hubs

I just had a sweet set of wheels built up for me - Pacenti SL25 with WI CLD hubs - and I want to put the rotors on. These are centerlock hubs.

The rear hub looks OK. The only issue I have is that the lockring tool I have isn't deep enough, so I'll have to find a deeper one.

The front hub baffles me. There isn't room around the axle to insert the lockring tool.

How is this supposed to work?

Thanks,
Murph

That's why you have to use the lockring that came with the hub. White Industries sends out QR hubs the same way as 15mm hubs. You need the same tool used for external bottom brackets.

My particular CLD's didn't come with any lock rings (or at least I did not receive them from the builder). But these lock rings will work with the WI CLD's.

Ah OK. That lockring says "thru axle only", so I wasn't sure if I should use it.

Thanks!

I've got an extra lockring if anybody wants it......

I do know it was a running change they did. Came with the availability of 15mm front hubs. My first few sets didn't have them either.

There are two different kinds of lockrings. The ones in the link above use the external BB tool, but there are also the style pictured in the OP, which take spline tool. I like the external tool style better, but they are not necessary if the spline style fits over your axle.

Ahh. Good to know. Yeah, I think was an early adopter too. I thought it odd they didn't come with the lock rings, but it was no issue as I had spares around the house.

Good thing about the new front hub is all you have to do is pop off the end caps (there's a little hole in the side to get a grip on them) and poof it's a 15mm front. Good if you have bikes with the two different forks.
