I'm in the auto biz, one really good shop is in West LA, called Beverly Coach Craft. The owners name is Peter SARDI. (310) 477-6561 They do excellent auto work.
In the San Fernando Valley, there are two shops:
Precision Auto Body (818) 888-7654
Auto Steigler (818) 757-2090

All 3 would be willing to work with you!

Good auto work ... but I'm thinking of letting any of them refinish my Calfee Tetra Pro - needs the clear coast stripped, sanded and then reapplied or maybe I'll just go with bare/nude carbon

Odd brainstorm but wonder how worth it are those newfangled paint protection coatings? i.e.

Our company sends it custom stuff to Joe's Carbon Solutions up in Watsonville.

Sometimes we don't get our pre-production samples in time for Interbike so we'll send him frame, fork, a color tube/Pantone code, and a drawing of what we want. Turn around has always been less than a week and I haven't been disappointed.

There's also that U-V stuff over nude carbon, right?
Craig wants close to $500 to refinish. My auto shop guys would probably be able to do it for 1/2 that and then maybe some beer, food and a little "prescription" medication might lower the cost even more.
And yes, they would spray the nude with some sort of UV coating

Don't go there!! I went to Auto Steigler to get them to paint my bike and I ended up stuck with a lease for a Benz.

I think you might find a shop that does custom motorcycle paint willing to do bicycles too.
