Locking that last Rapha thread was absurd. I'm sorry, but we're adults, and each of us was being very civil. Let us guide the threads. We were still talking about Walmart and Amazon's economic impacts on our world, which are germane to the conversation.

Seriously, when I (or anyone else) am a jerk or go to a place of the personal, I can fully understand locking threads, banning, etc.

When it's adults who really are the people that make up this message board guiding a perfectly civil conversation in what could reasonably be called an acceptable part of a larger conversation around the original topic, when that's stopped, that sort of handholding is unnecessary.

Please re-read the User Agreement.

It is not just about being a jerk. Politics are areas we prefer conversations stay away from. The thread had or was drifting in that direction with where you and others had taken it.

Some members can't self-police. We wish they could.

I'm guilty. I went there in that thread with a firsthand (family) anecdote.

Perhaps we should all just chill out and have a

C'mon, where there is smoke there's fire. It should come as no coincidence that the same guy is in majority of locked threads.

Bruce K, a dialogue on race is not synonymous with a dialogue on politics. If that distinction isn't clear, then a Political Science 101 course at the local community college could be illuminating.

Please read the user agreement Beatnik. Your remark to Bruce is over the line.

Gasman, the Paceline user agreement should be amended. Politics, religion, race, class and "perceived insults/attacks." Pretty straightforward, no?

Never mind, Bruce K spells it out here:

https://forums.thepaceline.net/showp...7&postcount=68

A couple of folks seem to continually want to push threads into political/ socioeconomic discussion.

This is not the place for that.

Don't mean to be obtuse, but I didn't think every controversial topic was banned.

Thanks mods. This place is great. I hate talking politics and wish people would drop it when they come here.

Beatnik

If you have learned nothing else about the forum, you should have learned that folks generally can't stay away from personal insults (like yours above) when the topics involve politics, religion, firearms, race, etc.

This is a cycling forum first and foremost, and while these topics may come up as part of the conversation, we try to head these off before they devolve.

You have no idea the number of complaints we get about topics, tone, users that we are asked to "deal with". Your comment above actually generated some.
