Wish I could run the Vlaanderens on my C59...

just not convinced I could fit them. Love to have someone put a caliper to a pair so I could compare to the Roubaix's and see if they may just fit. 99 1/2% certain they would not fit on my 695, but the Colnago...maybe

Let me see if I can find a pic from the last time I did that. They're like 24.5 mm or so.

Line 1 is interesting. The rest says "amazing day to be riding rather than playing with equipment!"

Roger that...stuck on a video conference call when we lost power due to a rogue storm. Currently connected to the call via my cell which is connected to a mophie as my power is low. I should have tapped out of the call, blaming the storm and taken a ride in the Summer rain.

My query is, what tires do you guys love and why?

My thought was to simply get the tubular version of the clinchers I like. Vittoria, veloflex, or schwalbe. What tire in the larger size, say 27mm and up would you consider a noticeable difference over clinchers.

If the subtleties are truly only observed by Finley tuned riders who can determine the shape and density of the pebble they just rode over... then never mind.
I was really happy with my Veloflex until I blew one about 90 minutes ago descending at about 60 km/hr. Coulda been me and the way I set up the brake pads (maybe they rubbed the sidewall?) but it blew and was nearly new. Still, in praise of tubs, I was able to brake and pull safely to the side of the road. Comfy tires though.

Veloflex Arenberg's

I've stopped looking for anything better than Veloflex Arenberg's.

OP where are you finding Corsa Elites for that price?

Tubulars

Veloflex Arenberg

Vittoria Corsa G

I want to try Challenge tires, but I'm concerned they may be too fragile for NYC streets

I've been through so many tires...

Right now, I'm back on the trusty Veloflex Roubaix/Arenberg tires and the Vlaanderen tires as my huge ride everything tires..

I was riding the Corsa G 28 tires for a bit, but they were just too harsh, and even at low pressures. I'm going to try the 25mm Corsa G tires, and see if that makes a difference.

FMB are amazing tires to look at, but not to ride daily. At least in LA.. Every set of FMB tires felt way to soft, lost too much air during the length of a ride and the tread wear is crazy. After a few rides, the middle of my FMB Roubaix tires were bald.

Veloflex tires are the best things out there right now... Euro sites sell them cheaper than most clinchers.

Gents and the very few lovely ladies who frequent here.

I hate tubulars.

Wait, I hate that i suck at putting them on and refuse to pay $100/wheel to anyone local to do it for me. I am just too cheap as well as

I attempted to put two cross tires on over the past couple of days and I am almost sure there is more glue on the side wall of the tire and the treads then there is on the base tape and rims. Oh not to mention the glue all over my hands.

I am not a stupid man, I have an incredibly high IQ, learn quickly, and understand the steps but the gosh darn, the gluing of tubulars is just not for me. I might use the tufo extreme tape on my road set of tires or just let them hang on the wall with all of my hopes and dreams of tubulars.

Are they centered in the rim you ask. yep, well pats of the tire are. Do they wobble and hop a bit. Yeah like a drunken bunny walking on ice.

I explained the comical situation to my pal like Rowan Atkinson (as Mr. Bean) trying and failing to do this and causing hilarity that naturally ensues.

oh well, a clinchers life for me.
