Exclamation A Note from the Mods: Be part of the solution, not the problem

Quote:
Good afternoon Paceliners!

We have been fielding more frequent complaints lately about the forum "signal to noise" ratio. It seems that we have some folks who are having trouble exercising good judgement when posting here. Remember, this is a public forum, and we should all post with an attitude of mutual respect toward each other. Keeping in mind the wildly diverse audience here, from all parts of the world and cultures, let's try to respect and value everyone's input, without crossing the line. If you have to wonder where that line is - then err on the side of caution and just don't post it!

Additionally, the mods here are all volunteers. The expectation should not be that someone is actively moderating the forum 24/7. We step in when we can, and take action with internal consensus, and try and be consistent. Don't necessarily rely on a moderator swooping in to police a thread that is getting out of hand. Gently steering back to course is the better option and NOT feeding into heated discussions.

Along those lines, since we do not have 24/7 eyes on every thread, if you notice some repeat offenders, bring them to the moderators attention, either through PM or the "report post" function. Ideally we will keep track of these folks and take appropriate action to keep things moving smoothly around here. Just like on the subway - if you see something, say something.

We're asking the forum general membership to take more ownership of the content here. Don't feed the obvious trolls. Don't get sucked down the rabbit hole of frustrating conversations that turn ugly. Feel free to completely ignore posts you don't agree with, and even add a member to your "ignore list" if necessary.

Be part of the solution, not part of the problem.

Let's keep the high level of discourse this forum has enjoyed for years. We all know the "right" thing to do - sometimes we just need a reminder, eh?

Cheers!

William

You mods do an awesome job. This forum rocks. It may seem thankless, but many of us greatly appreciate it.

Now where can I send you a 30lb bag of frozen Walmart chicken breasts imported from Vietnam as thanks?

It's the ones who ride tubulars that create all the trouble.

You mods do a wonderful job. Compared to other forums I'm embarrassed to say I'm on, there's no comparison. Get rid of the few guys who use the dancing bananas and I wouldn't have a complaint in the world.

Thank you for all that you do - and apologies if my comments RE: veganism approached a line or lead others there - back to bikes

I just want to note I kept things very civil in the first Rapha thread.
Trying to turn over a new leaf here, while still standing my principled ground.

How do I add people to my 'ignore' list?

But seriously, good job done by all.

You will NEVER get rid of the dancing banana.

There is too much history with it here.

Dave T made forum decals using it.

The forum was a minor sponsor of the Sierra Nevada team back when they rode Serottas and the banana guy was on the team vehicle and trailer.

Banana man rules !!!

Yeah, it's a shame the banana discussion wasn't more fruitful.
