Limar Ultralight hits all the right notes. Light, well vented and no back piece...
Has become my no. 1 helmet of choice. Shape more oval than Catlike or Giro Aeon.

I agree that all helmets look dumb. But, so do hats on my head. Lightweight and max air flow are key and that Catlike looks like it would feel good. Looking forward to your report.

My current Giro helmet is dark grey. Is there data that indicates a white helmet is appreciably cooler?

Like a dark jersey in the sun..can't be cooler, all else being equal. Yes? But never owned anything but white..helmets.

As long it is comfortable and doesn't look like a giant mushroom I'm good. LG's fit, comfort along with great value work for me. Also I always wear a hat, hot or cold,in hot weather it keeps the sweat from my eyes and acts like a radiator when descending ( I do lots of climbing) in cold added layer to protect my dome.

Firs well, very adjustable, doesn't interfere with glasses, 'neck sausage' doesn't make it rotate forward. 'Seems' cooler, 87 degrees, I know, a cold snap for you AZ and TX guys. Still a helmet tho. I'll keep it. Cooler than Mavic, fits better than Lazer.

Got a met rivale and the m.of.o is super cool, 1st time I put my hand in the back of a helmet holes and actually feel the breeze coming through out, happy with it but kind'a triky to fit due to my weird a r s head shape.

Giro Aeon is the best vented helmet I've ever used, better than the Synthe that came after and the Prevail I had before... Obviously you got it taken care of but I'm an Aeon fanboy.

Had an Aeon then a Synthe. Both 'seemed' way to 'substantial', bulky. I know, helmets like bib shorts, YMMV,++.

I wear it cuz I gots too. Without trying to start a 'helmet' argue-thread. Did take it off going up the hwy 36 MUP back into Boulder...nuthin beats non... put it back on coming down the hill.

Though I love my Catlike Whisper (vents very well and I do quite like the mushroom aesthetics) I did not like the retention system. Felt that it dug a bit on the back of my neck. Modded a Bell retention (on the Volt) onto the Catlike and now it is PERFECT!

Ive done what the previous poster is saying but it depends a lot of the 2 helmets you want to work with.

Not if your willing to experiment! I actually ordered a spare retention system for $8 and then simply cut the little securing tabs out and super-glued them onto the bell retention system straps. It was pretty easy and since I didn't plan on using the Catlike retention system, had no qualms about wasting it. Optimally, I would have LOVED to put a Louis Garneau Spiderlock on it.
