Reminder: Classica San Sebastian tomorrow (now with spoilers)

As Gurpil23 pointed out in another thread, the one day race in the Basque Country is happening tomorrow. Its Basque name is Donostia-Donostia Klasikoa. Bauke Mollema is the defending champion, and having just won a stage at the tour, he would not be a bad bet.

And after that thread with the picture of food in San Sebastian.... not a bad place to see a race.

If you don't already have a way to watch it (like Eurosport) I'd check out steep hill or cyclingfans. Google either of those, and you'll find them.

Watching the Basque tv live through a VPN http://www.eitb.eus/eu/kirolak/zuzenean/

The race used to really start at the port of Jaizkibel, like 40-50 km from the end, but these days is all about the last steep hill and the descent to San Sebastian.

Landa, kwiatkowski, mollema, dumoulin and gallopin. An eclectic group in the final selection.

Kwiatkowski... Man is there any one day race he cannot win? He has the best chance of any current rider of winning all 5 monuments.

Not a bad place for anything. Plenty to do and see in San Sebastian and the surrounding countryside is absolutely beautiful. Spent several days in a town about 20-30 miles southwest of SS (Azkoitia) a few years ago when we were purchasing some equipment for work. So many hills/mountains with lush vegitation (except the handful that were having trees harvested), excellent food, tons of history and really nice architecture. The Basque region has such a strong cycling culture, it's a real change from the good ole US of A. Stopped at one of the local bike shops and picked up a jersey (always try to get a local jersey or kit whenever I travel). The Basques we interacted with all seemed very friendly and hospitable. Also noticed in that area there are multi-use trails, soccer/athletic fields a-plenty and seemed to be getting a lot of use. Seemed like the healthy lifestyle was really being embraced. Also spent an afternoon in SS but I feel we barely scratched the surface of what we could see or do in that city.

Probably the most dangerous and, ahem, complete one-day rider in the peloton today.
