Serotta CSI

Pros Closet is listing a Serotta CSI frame on ebay that interest me a great deal. It has a one inch threaded headtube, and their own proprietary steel tubing. The serial number is provided below, but they state that they do not know the year it was manufactured. Can anyone provide any additional information on the frame? I know that it is a 63cm frame and that is was 737 off the assembly line. At least I think I know these facts. I have a Waterford 1200 from that era that I really love. Would this bike be significantly different? Thanks much,

Serotta CSI

Can you verify the 62 cm TT length?

I would guess it's 1996 production based on the serial number. 1995 was the first year for the CSI.

As far as ride characteristics I'd expect the CSI to be stiffer than a 753 frame with a 1" top tube, especially in this size range.

Yep, 63x62. Big bike and plenty stiff.

Any front end shimmy. Sometimes people complain about shimmy in large frames if the top tube is not stiff. My Waterford shimmied a bit when new but stiff carbon fork a stiffer wheels fixed that. At least I don't notice it anymore.

No shimmy. Old Potatoe built up the frame for me along with the wheels using all NOS DA 7703 parts. It rode fantastic.
